John Kruk immortalized as Fightin Phils giveaway gnome

READING, Pa. - John Kruk is the latest Phillies great getting the gnome treatment in Baseballtown.

The first 2,500 fans 15 and over at Monday's game between the Reading Fightin Phils and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at FirstEnergy Stadium will be given a garden gnome figure to take home.

Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels and Carlos Ruiz have also been featured as gnomes in recent years.

Kruk played three games for Reading while on a rehab assignment for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1994. He then joined the team seven years later as the hitting coach under then-manager Gary Varsho.

Kruk now works as a baseball analyst for ESPN.
