Klinger's serves up breakfast to benefit children's hospital

LOWER ALSACE TWP., Pa. - Customers of Klinger's on Carsonia in Pennside left breakfast Monday morning feeling both full and fulfilled.

The restaurant and bar on Carsonia Avenue served up its annual St. Patrick's Day breakfast buffet, which also happens to coincide with the weekend celebration of Klinger's fourth anniversary.

All the food -- a feast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage and more -- was free in exchange for a donation to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

"We had lots of friends and family that sent children to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and had a lot of great success through their hospital," said Mark Klinger, partner/general manager, "and we figured what better way to raise some awareness and raise some funds for them than take advantage of a great holiday that brings people out early in the morning and throw breakfast for everybody."

And since St. Patrick's Day fell on a Monday this year, Klinger's decided to serve up breakfast Sunday morning, as well.

The two-day event raised approximately $2,000 for CHOP, bringing the four-year total raised by Klinger's and its customers through both the St. Patrick's Day breakfasts and autumn golf tournaments to more than $20,000.

Additional money is being raised Monday through the sale of raffle tickets and Klinger's anniversary t-shirts.
