Klinger's raises $2K to help cover Diddy's medical expenses

Hillside SPCA also collecting donations on website

BERN TWP., Pa. - Klinger's Pubs and its customers have come through again, this time raising a glass to raise money for an animal in need.

Klinger's at the Airport in Bern Township hosted a "Drafts for Diddy" fundraiser on Sunday. When it was all over, the five-hour event raised $2,000 for Diddy, a 10-year-old German shepherd that was shot in the face inside his home in Pottsville on February 24.

The money raised will help the Hillside SPCA in Schuylkill County pay for Diddy's medical bills, which have added up to more than $6,400.

The Hillside SPCA is also accepting donations on its website.

Diddy has since been released from the hospital that treated him, but he still faces a long road to recovery. He has bullet fragments in his nasal area and jaw, and he has pretty much lost vision in his right eye, officials said.

The man accused of shooting Diddy has been jailed on a number of charges, including aggravated cruelty to an animal, recklessly endangering another person, and cruelty to an animal.
