Kutztown area residents turn out for substance abuse meeting

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Residents in the Kutztown area are joining together in the battle against drug abuse.

A substance abuse task force meeting was held Monday night at Kutztown Area High School.

Organizers say the Brandywine Heights and Kutztown area school districts have lost six recent graduates to drug addiction over the past year.

Speakers including State Senator Judy Schwank say the drug abuse problem affects the entire community.

"It's not somebody else's problem, it's our problem. And when it impacts one family, it truly impacts all of us," Schwank said.

Hundreds of people turned out earlier this month for a similar meeting at Brandywine Heights Middle School.
