KU students heading to trial in brawl at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - Two Kutztown University football players are heading to trial in connection with a fight that injured two Bloomsburg University students.

Angel Cruz waived his preliminary hearing and Justin Wieder was ordered held for court.

Both men have been charged in connection with the fight near the Bloomsburg University campus on February 23.

One of the victims, Donald Hoover, 19, of Robeson Twp., Berks Co., was released from the hospital shortly after the fight; Jackie Lithgow, 19, of Carlisle, however, still remains hospitalized.

Kutztown University has also suspended both Cruz and Wieder.

Two other KU students who were also suspended in the case -- Eric Condron and Jacob Wygant -- were cleared by police last week of any criminal wrongdoing.

The university subsequently lifted the suspensions.
