Local soldier support group needs donations, volunteers

A Berks-based nonprofit that ships care packages to our soldiers are asking for your help.

Operation Enduring Freedom sends packages to more than 100 soldiers who are serving oversees.

But, they are short on food and medication for the soldiers and are looking for volunteers who can help with packing.

"We have to give back to our troops because they give for us every day," said Simone Sauers-Houck, the founder of Operation Enduring Freedom. "Everyday, they are out there, and they are keeping us free. We have to remember that."

It's like Christmas for the soldiers when they receive the packages, Sauers-Houck said.

If you want to volunteer or donate items, just visit the group's website.
