Man, 29, shot dead inside Reading convenience store

No arrests made

READING, Pa. - A Reading man was found fatally shot early Sunday morning inside a convenience store in downtown Reading, about a block away from police headquarters.

RPD officers responded shortly after 3 a.m. to the report of shots fired at the Good Deal Mini Mart at North Eighth and Walnut streets. They found Marquis Bradley, 29, dead in one of the aisles with at least one gunshot wound, according to Reading police Capt. Paul Reilly.

No arrests have been made.

This is not the first time a shooting death has occurred at the store. In 2006, Ofc. Scott Wertz was fatally shot twice while attempting to tackle a man in the parking lot after responding to the report of a fight and shots fired.

The owner of Good Deal Mini Mart told 69 News that the store will remain open at night, releasing this statement:

At this point in time, we'll stay open at night and see how things go. We wish this violence would stop, so we can work without any fear. Normally, we see people arguing after the bars close at 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. We do not condone this violence.
