Man charged with murder in fatal shooting in Reading

Shane Hibbler already jailed on parole violation

READING, Pa. - A Reading man who is already behind bars on a parole violation is now facing murder charges.

City police announced Monday that they have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Shane D. Hibbler in connection with a fatal shooting of another man two months ago.

Hibbler is expected to be arraigned Tuesday on charges that include first- and third-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, police said.

Hibbler stands accused of fatally shooting Dennis Serrano Jr. in the first block of South Ninth Street, about a block east of an RPD substation, on May 16.

Investigators haven't identified a motive for the homicide, but they initially said that Hibbler and the suspect were "familiar with each other."
