Stabbing victim found in front of church, police say

READING, Pa. - A man was rushed to a hospital Wednesday after being stabbed in Reading, police said.

Emergency crews got the call shortly before 1:45 p.m. Wednesday from North 12th and Windsor streets.

They responded to find a man lying on a sidewalk in front of a church. Initial reports from the scene were that he suffered a serious wound to his abdomen and was barely breathing. The victim was rushed to the trauma center at Reading Hospital and underwent emergency surgery, said Chief Bill Heim, Reading Police Dept., who responded to the scene.

Investigators were searching for evidence in a nearby alley, according to a 69 News crew on the scene.
