Man shot on parking lot of gas station in Reading

READING, Pa. - The search is on for the person who opened fire on the parking lot of a gas station in Reading, sending one man to the hospital with what witnesses reported to be a gunshot wound to his head.

The shooting happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Citgo station at North Third and Buttonwood streets.

Witnesses told WFMZ's Maria Salazar that they heard one gunshot.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was then taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A woman on scene who said she knows the victim's wife told 69 News the victim was speaking when he was being put on the ambulance.

Responding officers quickly cordoned off the parking lot as a crime scene. with their attention being centered on the area around the gas pumps.
