Man shot when gun goes off inside grocery store in Reading

Victim was standing with children at cash register, police say

READING, Pa. - A man was shot by his own gun inside a grocery store in Reading, police said.

The shooting was reported shortly before 3:45 p.m. Thursday inside the C-Town Supermarket at 600 Greenwich Street.

The victim was standing in the area of the cash registers with his children when a gun in his pocket accidentally went off, firing a bullet into one of his legs, police said.

An ambulance rushed the victim to the hospital.

The cashier closest to the victim when the gun went off was extremely shaken by the incident and taken home by store management.
