Man wounded in shooting over summer dies on 20th birthday

READING, Pa. - A man who was shot in the neck during a party in which another man was killed has died, police said.

Juan Perez Pimentel was hospitalized in Lancaster when he passed away on Sunday, which happened to be his 20th birthday, police said.

An autopsy determined Pimentel died as a result of the gunshot wound he suffered at a party at 11th and Mulberry streets in Reading on July 30, said the coroner, who ruled his death a homicide.

Two other men were also shot at the party. Cesar Rivera, 22, died at the scene; the other victim suffered a non-life-threatening wound to the leg, police said.

The suspect in the shootings, Matthew Perkins, was nabbed about a week later by sheriff's deputies in Osceola Co., Fla.

Perkins, who is awaiting trial in the Berks County Jail, now faces an additional homicide charge, said District Attorney John Adams.
