Manan Trivedi announces 3rd try for seat in Congress

BIRDSBORO, Pa. - A man who tried to oust Republican Congressman Jim Gerlach is making another run for the seat.

Manan Trivedi said Tuesday that he will seek the Democratic nomination in Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District.

"This election is an opportunity for the people of the 6th District to say no to political gridlock, and yes to ideas that strengthen and grow the middle-class," Trivedi said. "As a father, doctor in the community and Iraq War veteran, I'm tired of politicians who help themselves instead of the people they're paid to represent."

"His work ethic and experience in health care and the military will serve as strong assets for the people of the 6th District," said Pa. Sen. Andy Dinniman, in a statement released by Trivedi's campaign.

At least three other candidates -- Democrats Mike Marrish and Mark Rozzi and Republican Ryan Costello -- have expressed interest in the seat.

Gerlach said he will step down at the end of his sixth term.

The 6th District is made up of parts of Berks, Chester, Lebanon and Montgomery counties.
