Mike Schmidt calls Phillies "hungry" at spring training camp

Schmidt says Phillies are "hungry" at training camp

READING, Pa. - Mike Schmidt was in Reading on Tuesday to serve as keynote speaker at the Boy Scouts Annual Leadership Dinner.

69 Sports caught up with the Phillies' Hall of Fame third baseman. During the interview, Schmidt discussed a variety of topics, including Phillies spring training camp, Darin Ruf, Domonic Brown, the Fightin' Phils re-branding and some reflections from his time as a player in Reading.

One of Schmidt's main talking points was how "hungry" the Phillies looked through the early-going of training camp.

The Phillies are not expected to compete with Washington or Atlanta for a National League East title, but Schmidt says the team is using that as motivation.
