Mother Nature deals another blow to local car dealership

SOUTH HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. - A family-owned car dealership once devastated by flooding has again been dealt a blow by Mother Nature.

Heavy snow caused a roof to collapse at the Eisenhauer Nissan dealership on Penn Avenue in South Heidelberg Twp., Berks Co., Saturday evening.

The collapse damaged 37 cars that were for sale on the lot, according to the dealership's owner, Pete Eisenhauer.

The damage to the cars adds up to about $850,000, said Eisenhauer, who hasn't put a dollar figure on the damage done to the collapsed building.

The same dealership was devastated by flooding caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee in September 2011.

A surge of water from a nearby creek flooded the dealership, destroying everything in its path and trapping 17 employees inside the building.

The dealership subsequently started over by relocating to higher ground across the street.
