Muhlenberg police seek information in store burglary attempt

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. - Muhlenberg Township police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying a would-be burglar.

The man pulled up to The Smoke Shop, 4875 N. 5th St. Hwy., in a 1980s two-door coupe and tried to throw a large cinder block through the store's window, but the window didn't break, police said.

The man then found another way inside the store, but he fled empty-handed because of the loud noise caused by throwing the block at the window, police said.

The man got back into the passenger side of the vehicle and fled the scene, said police, who had no information about the driver.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Muhlenberg Township Police Department at 610-929-5454 or Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913.
