Museum field trip a donation in photographer's memory

READING, Pa. - Some Berks County children took a special field trip on Friday.

Berks Christian School students explored the Reading Public Museum. They checked out exhibits on art and history and learned about nature.

The field trip was in honor of the late Dave Zerbe, who founded a local photography studio and worked with the museum in recent years.

After Zerbe died earlier this month, his family asked for donations to Berks Christian School in Exeter Township instead of flowers, and the Reading Public Museum came up with the idea of a field trip for the students.

"So, their donation was a field trip for the students, which my father would have absolutely loved, because he believed experience, life experience, is very important," said Chad Zerbe, president, Berks Christian School Board.

Zerbe also served in the Army for more than 36 years and was the recipient of two Bronze Stars.
