New details emerge in Reading birthday party shooting

Party shooting

READING, Pa. - New details have emerged in a shooting that happened in Berks County last weekend.

Reading police tell 69 News they're now hunting for two gunmen in the case.

The drama unfolded in the 1600 block of Cotton Street early last Sunday morning during a birthday party.

One man was critically shot in the torso and another was hit in the leg.

Police say 25 to 50 people were inside a row home at the time-- and they're still trying to track down witnesses.

"The problem is that a lot of people that were inside the home at the time of the shooting fled on foot... and never called in or we haven't been able to learn their identity," Sgt. John Solecki said.

One person who was inside a nearby home at the time of shootings tells 69 News he heard three gunshots, and then saw dozens of people run down the block.

"One kid came out and he was shot in the leg... and he was crawling," said the party-goer, who did not want to be identified. "Two of his buddies came back and picked him up and they ran down the street. It was chaos. It was a life-changing experience just watching. It was something out of a movie."

Police are also looking into the possibility that the shootings are gang related.
