Penn National Gaming may buy rival

WYOMISSING, Pa. - Berks County-based Penn National Gaming is considering buying a rival.

The casino owner, headquartered in Wyomissing, confirmed it's in talks to acquire Pinnacle Entertainment, creating a company with 45 properties in more than a dozen states and Canada.

Both companies said the discussions may or may not lead to a transaction.

Penn National said the talks revolve around purchasing Pinnacle in a cash and stock transaction.

A combined company would have more than $5 billion in revenue.
