Penn Street Market in downtown Reading to open June 6 with tribute to WWII veterans

Market's season debut to coincide with opening of annual World War II Weekend

READING, Pa. - Downtown Reading's outdoor farmers market will open for the season on June 6 with a tribute to World War II veterans.

The market invites the veterans to the market in the 800 block of Penn Street to view the parade organized by the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in conjunction with its annual World War II Weekend.

A group of five brothers and sisters who sing and dance -- Sing for America -- will be on hand to entertain the audience. The group will accept donations during its performance, which are given to families of active military serving the United States.

The Penn Street Market will continue every Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. throughout the summer until Fri., Oct. 3.

Free parking for people driving to the market is available in the 9th and Cherry streets lot.
