PennDOT opens new Route 625 bridge over Angelica Creek

CUMRU TWP., Pa. - Drivers who travel Route 625 on a regular basis received some good news Monday.

PennDOT opened a new bridge over the Angelica Creek in Cumru Twp., Berks Co.

Route 625, between Freemansville and Church roads, was closed in April so crews could replace the bridge, repair the guide rails and repaint the lines.

Drivers were forced to use Routes 562, 222, 222 Business, and 724 as a detour route.

Dessco Design and Construction Inc., of Fleetwood, served as the general contractor on the $1,447,969 project.

The original bridge was built in 1914 and reconstructed in 1942.
