Pa. State Police pause to honor fallen troopers

READING, Pa. - State police are celebrating their 109th year of service by remembering those who gave their lives to protect the community.

Troopers hosted a memorial service outside the state police barracks in Reading on Friday.

They gathered by the statue of Tpr. Philip Melley . He's one of the 12 members of the troop to have died in the line of duty.

"This is an opportunity for us to recognize the members who gave the ultimate sacrifice," said Capt. Dante Orlandi, Pa. State Police Troop L.
