Penske Truck Rental dedicates call center to moves by US military members

READING, Pa. - Penske Truck Rental is being all it can be for United States military members who must relocate themselves and their families.

The Berks County-based company has created a specialized call center to assist active and veteran military members with do-it-yourself moves.

The dedicated, toll-free number -- 1-844-4TROOPS -- operates daily from 7 a.m. until midnight and is staffed by employees who either have a family member in active or reserve duty or are veterans themselves.

"Our military call center employees have been specially trained to aid military members and their families navigate the unique requirements for each branch," said Don Mikes, Penske's senior vice president of rental. "We want to ensure that each family's transition to a new base is conducted as smoothly as possible."

Military rules require that service members and their families certify the weight of their rental trucks when moving, so Penske also offers an online tool for them to locate a certified public scale.
