69 News Berks Edition: 2 dead, 1 seriously hurt in Reading shooting

Police told 69 News two males died, and the surviving victim was taken to Reading Hospital by ambulance to undergo surgery.

As of early Thursday morning, no one was in custody for the shootings.

Police closed Moss Street between Oley and Greenwich streets to investigate well into the night.

One neighbor told a 69 News crew member on the scene that she thought she knew two of the victims, and said she was upset.

Another neighbor told 69 News, "We just heard like firecrackers, that's what it sounded like." He then came outside and saw a lot of police and flashing lights.

The sound of gunfire has become all too familiar for many in the city. In the past couple months alone, the city has seen a wave of violence, including shootings and stabbings. The violence has many concerned. "I lived in the city all my life, back in the day you could leave your front door open, no one would rob you, this is ridiculous," Reading resident David Chipperfield said.
