Police bring peaceful end to 13-hour standoff in Mohnton

MOHNTON, Pa. - A 13-hour standoff in Mohnton ended peacefully.

A man in an apartment on West Madison Street was threatening to shoot himself, his family and authorities, police said.

Officers from several departments and the Berks County Emergency Response Team jumped into action.

The man surrendered around 11 a.m. Monday. He went to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.

No one was hurt.
