Police: Fight in Reading ends in gunfire; person wounded

READING, Pa. - What began as an argument in south Reading overnight escalated to gunfire, sending one person to the hospital, police said.

RPD officers were dispatched around midnight for the report of shots fired in the area of South 11th and Cotton streets. They arrived to find a male victim who had been shot in the torso, according to Sgt. Darrin Dougherty.

The victim was rushed to Reading Hospital, but Dougherty said it's unlikely his injuries are life-threatening.

The fight involved approximately six people, but so far, there have been no arrests. Dougherty said investigators are reviewing video that was recorded by surveillance cameras in the area.
