Victim of mistaken identity, family says

READING, Pa. - Authorities have identified the man who was fatally shot in Reading on Wednesday.

Miguel Reyes, 24, died about three hours after being rushed to the trauma center at Reading Hospital with a single gunshot wound to his body, police said.

Reyes, who moved back to Reading about a year ago and lived in the 200 block of Pear Street, was found to be wounded in an alley near his home shortly after 8 p.m.

A neighbor reported hearing seven or eight gunshots.

The victim was walking to a store at the time and may have been mistakenly targeted by the shooter, according to family members, who said that he leaves behind 1- and 3-year-old sons.
