Police: Inmate who escaped in Berks County turns self in

SOUTH HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. - An inmate who escaped from a corrections facility in Berks County has turned himself in at a prison in Lancaster County, police said Wednesday.

Ramon Antonio Beachy fled on foot from the Wernersville Community Corrections Center in South Heidelberg Township while he was being escorted by a staff member Sunday, police said.

Beachy, 28, jumped over a railing on a flight of stairs, ran through a courtyard and climbed a fence to escape.

Beachy walked into the lobby of the Lancaster County Prison and turned himself in, police said. Authorities said he's being held in that prison now, but is expected to be returned to the state facility.
