Police investigating rash of daytime burglaries in Robeson

ROBESON TWP., Pa. - A string of daytime burglaries is leaving many in rural Robeson Township on edge.

Between Feb. 24 and last week, police said a total of four home burglaries and two attempted break-ins have been reported near the area of Overlook, Quaker and Moyer roads.

"We're concerned," said resident Jack Bateman. "I think we're all watching out."

Chief Mark Phillips, Robeson Twp. Police Dept., said the break-ins are happening during the daytime on weekdays when residents aren't home.

"Either [by] compromising a door or rocks being thrown through windows," said Phillips. "A lot of damage to homes, a lot of things were taken, some of which is sentimental, but luckily, thankfully, we haven't had any injuries."

While Phillips won't disclose what exactly the bandit is making off with, one victim, who chose to remain anonymous, told 69 News that her entire jewelry box was ransacked.

The victim said the break-in happened this month while she and family were on vacation. Doors were broken in and all jewelry was gone.

"I saw they had emptied my jewelry box and that seemed to be the only thing that they took," she said. "My class ring or another ring I got from my grandmother. It was just more sentimental things like that."

Right now, police have no suspects and are actively investigating. Phillips said he believes the incidents are all connected and committed by one to two people.

"We are working diligently trying to solve this. We've been working 24 hours a day on these cases and we're going to continue to do so," said Phillips.

Phillips urges residents to remain alert and call police if noticing anything suspicious.
