Police probe improper relationship between student, staffer

Berks district attorney aware of investigation

UNION TWP., Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an improper relationship between a staff member and a student at Daniel Boone Area High School in Berks County, according to the school district's superintendent.

Superintendent James Harris disclosed the nature of the case to 69 News after state police revealed in a news release to the state's media Wednesday afternoon that a "very active investigation" was underway at the school in Union Township.

While the release provided few details, Trooper David Beohm, a public information officer for PSP's Reading-based Troop L, did say that the incident occurred between 2016 and 2017.

"No children are in danger," Beohm said.

Harris said the district has suspended the staff member involved pending the results of the police investigation.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams told 69 News that his office is aware of the investigation, but he said he could provide no information about what it entails or whether any criminal charges will be filed.
