Prepared to be scared: Zombie Mud Run in Berks

Zombie Mud Run

SINKING SPRING, Pa. - Get ready, get set, get chased by zombies.

A Halloween attraction in Berks County is kicking things off with a Zombie Mud Run this weekend.

It's part of Shocktoberfest on Route 422 in Sinking Spring.

On Saturday, you can run through a muddy 5K obstacle course with a twist.

"It's filled with zombies, and you have a flag football [belt], which represents your organs, and when you run the course, the zombies try to infect you with the living dead virus and capture your flags," said Pat Konopelski, owner and president of Shocktoberfest,

The goal is to make it through the course with all your flags, or at least one of them.

This is the first zombie mud run in Berks County. You can register online as either a "human" or "zombie."

The rest of the haunted attractions at Shocktoberfest open Fri., Sept. 27.
