Reaction pours in after second video surfaces involving QB

HAMBURG, Pa. - A fight on the football field has snowballed into a much larger ordeal involving the Hamburg school district and prosecutors from two counties.

Hamburg quarterback Joe Cominsky was first in a fight with an Annville-Cleona player on September 6th, where he bashed another player in the head with a helmet.

Now a second video has emerged, prompting the Berks County District Attorney to start an investigation. The video depicts Cominsky throwing a football at a teammate.

Parent Karen Hoagland says she took this video to the Hamburg superintendent in early August, weeks before the Annville-Cleona fight. She says she wanted to transfer her son to Berks Catholic to play football there and she was concerned about the coaching staff in Hamburg.

"When he stepped in and directly told him to do something dangerous, the coach is the adult. He is paid by our taxes to do a job and protect our children and he was not protecting our children. He is putting our children's lives at risk," said parent Karen Hoagland.

However other parents of Hamburg football players disagree. They wrote 69 news stating…
"Our athletic director is outstanding and our coaches do a fine job on and off the field," said parent Andrew Barter.

Another parent says her son was there that day and the boys were just messing around.

"We will not condone wrong behavior, but we will support our team and realize if mistakes happen, suffer consequences, learn and move on. But by no means was this video in the gym something anyone needs to address and judge us by," said parent Tonia Krick.

The superintended also released a statement saying "In both cases there were significant consequences given in a timely manner to those who made mistakes."

Cominsky sat out last week's game and will sit out this week's game. However the school district has not announced any further punishment, neither have South Annville Township Police.
