RAWA selects new chairman despite council's vote to dissolve

READING, Pa. - The Reading Area Water Authority has selected a new leader, despite a move by City Council to shut it down.

Earlier this week, the council voted to dissolve RAWA. The move still has to be approved by Mayor Vaughn Spencer.

At a meeting Thursday, the authority selected Ernest Schlegel to serve as chairman.

Spencer was at the meeting. He said he will discuss the situation with City Council during a meeting June 11.
