READING, Pa. - One Reading couple is not exactly in the mood for Valentine's Day after their home was burglarized.
Amelia Biancone said the criminals came into her home in the 200 block of McArthur Avenue and stole $50,000 in beloved jewelry that her husband had worked so hard to give her over the years.
"You feel raped. You have no idea how your heart hearts," Amelia said.
"What frustrates," said Richard Biancone, "is that I don't have anybody to go out and grab hold of by the neck and shake them till they scream."
The criminals also stole a 40-inch flat screen TV, and ruined the back door.
And just when this story couldn't get any sadder, Richard was diagnosed just a few weeks ago with lung cancer, which he says has spread throughout a portion of his body.
"I don't know if I have a week, a month a year with my husband," said Amelia. "After almost 52 years, we should have some peace, not someone come in and take what they never worked for."
Their neighbor was also targeted and lost $3,000 in jewelry.
"It physically hurts inside. I actually feel like I'm grieving," said Ruthanne Dougherty.
Richard and his wife had planned to leave the jewelry to their children as a legacy. Now, it's all gone. They have just one plea for the criminals.
"Call the police a call," Richard said, "and tell them where they can find this stuff, no questions asked, and don't ever do anything like this ever again."
