Fightin Phils on deck to play before national audience

READING, Pa. - The national spotlight will shine on Baseballtown when the Reading Fightin Phils take to the field at FirstEnergy Stadium on Thursday.

The CBS Sports Network will feature the Fightins' game against the Akron RubberDucks as its Minor League Baseball game of the week.

The Fightin Phils are the only Eastern League team chosen to host one of 15 weekly games televised by CBS Sports Network this season.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for the Reading Fightin Phils, the city of Reading, and the greater Reading community," said Scott Hunsicker, the team's general manager. "We are excited to showcase the affordable family fun of Baseballtown with the rest of the country, from the nostalgia of America's Classic Ballpark, FirstEnergy Stadium, to the wild antics of the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor."

CBS Sports Network is available to more than 99 million households across the country through local cable, video and telco providers, and via satellite on DirecTV Channel 221 and Dish Network Channel 158.

"We look forward to exposing even more fans to the excitement of Minor League Baseball, from top prospects working their way up to the major leagues to the fun and engaging elements our fans enjoy at our ballparks," said Pat O'Conner, president and CEO, Minor League Baseball.

As is the custom in Baseballtown, fans in attendance will experience much more than just the game. Highlights of the night will include the largest post-game fireworks show in FirstEnergy Stadium history and a display of the 1980 and 2008 Philadelphia Phillies World Series trophies.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
