Fire marshal's lieutenant promoted to office's top job

READING, Pa. - Reading has a new person in charge of investigating fires in the city.

Larry Moyer, one of three lieutenants in the fire marshal's office, was promoted Friday to the top job, replacing Todd Iaeger, city officials said.

Iaeger announced earlier this week that he is leaving Reading to become fire marshal in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Iaeger began working for Reading as a police officer in 1990. He then left the force to join the fire department as a firefighter in 1997. He was promoted to fire marshal in 2005.

Moyer joined the Reading Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT in 1995. He was promoted to lieutenant in the fire marshal's office in 2012.
