Reading Holiday Parade brings out some holiday cheer

READING, Pa. - The dreary weather did not stop a big crowd from coming out for the annual Reading Holiday Parade on Saturday.

The parade stepped from 11th and Penn streets under mostly cloudy skies.

Numerous local organizations took part in the parade, with area high school marching bands setting the tone with their Christmas tunes.

It looked a lot like Christmastime as reindeer, snowmen, and even a gingerbread house made their way down Penn Street. One highlight was the first-time appearance by a giant reindeer balloon.

"I think it just brings the community together. It's nice to see people out having a good time, focusing on positive things," said Ryan Spengler.

"I really like the floats. Everyone does such a great job, and of course the bands,” added Chrystal Reider.

Several members of our 69 News team, including reports Tom Rader, Maria Salazar, and Jim Vasil, also took part.
