Reading Hospital opens Child Development Center to more children

WEST READING, Pa. - The Reading Hospital has open enrollment in its Child Development Center to pre-schoolers whose parents are not employed by Reading Health System.

The center, located in the hospital's "S Building" on Chestnut Street in West Reading, offers an age-specific curriculum with daily art, music, story time, pre-reading and pre-math activities, as well as daily outdoor time in age-appropriate playgrounds, officials said.

The center, established in 1981, is divided into three schools -- forest, ocean and desert -- each with six classrooms to accommodate children from infant to preschoolers. Such an approach, officials said, enables children to progress with their same classmates and develop a sense of community with children of other ages in that school.

The center is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Anyone interested in enrolling a child can contact the Child Development Center for more information at 484-628-5140.
