Reading man faces charges for kidnapping estranged girlfriend

MUHLENBERG TWP., Pa. - A Reading man is facing charges for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting his estranged girlfriend in Muhlenberg Township. 

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Jonathan Ramirez's estranged girlfriend had his car while he was in jail. On Nov. 28, Ramirez was released from jail and met her to get his car back where he allegedly grabbed her, choked her and forced her back into his car. 

The car Ramirez was driving broke down and he started to beat his estranged girlfriend along the side of Route 78, according to the affidavit of probable cause. 

A good Samaritan stopped and Ramirez left to get gas. His estranged girlfriend was able to flee the vehicle. 

Ramirez is in Berks County Jail unable to post $100,000 bail.

He is facing charges of unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, kidnap to inflict terror, aggravated assault and simple assault.
