Reading man jailed in attempt to kill ex-girlfriend

Police: Woman stabbed 4 times, suffered cut artery

READING, Pa. - He tried to run, but he couldn't hide, according to Reading police, who captured a man being sought on an attempted homicide charge.

RPD officers arrested Kiheem Bess after a foot chase Thursday morning.

Bess stands accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend in the 900 block of Greenwich Street on Wednesday.

The victim was stabbed four times on her right arm, suffering a cut artery, police said. She was rushed to Reading Hospital for emergency surgery.

In addition to attempted homicide, Bess, 33, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and possessing an instrument of a crime. He was committed to the Berks County Jail on $50,000 bail.
