Two shot in Reading McDonald's parking lot

READING, Pa. - Gunfire erupted in the parking lot of a McDonald's at North Ninth and Spring streets. Police are piecing together what they said led to two people being shot.

A woman near the scene appeared to collapse onto the ground in disbelief.  Meanwhile, an eyewitness near the McDonald's said he feared for his life.

"I literally watched him shoot it right in front of my very eyes," the eyewitness said, asking 69 News withhold his or her name.

"I was standing right there in the window," the eyewitness said. "It looked like the shots were going right for me. Right at the window where I was standing. He pulled the gun out, shot, the guys were all here, there was a big crowd standing here in the parking lot. They went running down the alleyway there."

That's when police said they found the two victims, both, they say, were men.

"Both of the victims were transported to Reading Hospital for treatment," said Reading Police Sgt. Darrin Daugherty.

The eyewitness tried to help the victims, but the eyewitness said one in particular looked to be in bad condition.

"I could see he got shot on his side in the back, then there was the other guy, he got shot in the leg," said the witness. "He was pale faced, lips were turning blue, eyes rolling into the back of his head."
