Reading police chief a semi-finalist for chief's post in Florida

READING, Pa. - The Reading police chief may be heading south.

The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Chief Bill Heim is one of 10 semifinalists for the police chief position in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

According to the paper, Saint Petersburg's mayor plans to narrow the field to three to four candidates before inviting them to the city.

Two years ago, Heim was a finalist the same position in Hartford, Conn., but he didn't get that job.

He's been the chief in Reading since 2006.
