Reading PD release photos of robber

READING, Pa. - Police are hoping the public can help them identify a man who tried to rob a store in Reading.

Police released photos of the would-be robber Tuesday morning. They said the man attempted to rob the Dollar General store at 219 Buttonwood St. around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man held his hand in his sweatshirt as if he had a gun and threatened to shoot the clerk if the clerk did not open the register, police said.

The would-be robber fled the store empty-handed, police said. He is described as a white man who stands approximately five feet, four inches tall. He was wearing a gray hat, gray hooded sweatshirt and black shorts.

No one was injured and no money or merchandise was taken, police said.

If you recognize the man, you're asked to contact Reading police or call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913. A cash reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
