Reading police on the hunt for bank robber

Credit union robbed for third time in 13 months

READING, Pa. - Reading police are on the hunt for a man who robbed a credit union Saturday morning. It's the third time the Riverfront Federal Credit Union has been robbed in the past 13 months.

Police said the latest robbery happened just after 11 a.m. Saturday when a man walked into the 430 South Fourth Street credit union and handed a note to a teller demanding cash.

The suspect ran off with an undetermined amount of cash. He was last seen running north in the 300 block of Carpenter Street.

No one was injured.

Police describe the robber as an African-American man in his mid- to late-20s, standing around five feet, seven inches tall, and weighing more than 200 pounds.

Saturday's incident marks the third time in 13 months the Riverfront Federal Credit Union has been robbed.

The bank was also robbed in August and April of 2013. The suspects in both of those cases were arrested.
