Reading residents breathe sigh of relief after overturned SUV narrowly misses homes

READING, Pa. - There were some frightening moments in a Reading neighborhood when an SUV lost control and tipped over on a sidewalk near some homes.

The wreck happened at around 2:30 p.m. Friday at South Seventh and Spruce streets.

Firefighters frantically worked for about a half-hour before freeing the man from the wreckage.

Police haven't said speeding was a factor in the accident.

But, rresidents say cars frequently speed in that area and even run stops signs.

"It's a matter of time; they speed around here like it's a racetrack," said Nigeria Seabury. "There's kids playing at the school. They don't care."

The driver of the SUV was rushed to Reading Trauma Center.

There's no word on his condition.
