Reading School Board fires interim superintendent and other administrators

District dismisses superintendent, 7 top administrators

READING, Pa. - Reading School District has fired its interim superintendent Drue Miles and seven other administrators.

The Reading School Board has given eight administrators 30 days' notice that they are being let go, including Miles and two assistant superintendents, according to Yvonne stroman with the school board.

Miles was supposed to leave his post at the end of June but board members say the firings will them save more than $100,000 as the district is facing a $53 million budget shortfall.

Last month, the board hired Dr. Carlina Purcell as superintendent.

She was supposed to start on July 1, but will begin in May on a per diem basis, Stroman said.
