Reading United competitive in 2-0 loss to Philadelphia Union

Union top United in friendly

REIFFTON, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union defeated the Reading United, 2-0, on Friday night at Don Thomas Stadium. Despite the final score, Reading was very competitive against its MLS parent club.

The Union took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Former United player Aaron Wheeler struck for the first goal about 30 minutes into the game. He was followed five minutes later by Antoine Hoppenot.

But in the second half, the United came alive with multiple scoring chances, testing Union keeper Chris Konopka. Reading's Jason Plumhoff had the best chance just outside the box.

Reading will host the New York Magic on Sunday night at 5:00.
