Rebuilt ramp opens between Route 422 East, I-176 South

CUMRU TWP., Pa. - The ramp connecting Route 422 East and Interstate 176 South is open to traffic again.

The ramp in Cumru Township closed Friday morning so construction crews could replace much of it.

The improvements are part of a $15 million project that began in August 2012.

The work was originally projected to take only 16 months, however, PennDOT said last week the project won't be complete until December.

In addition to reconstructing ramps, crews are also constructing three new bridges and adding an additional lane in each direction of I-176 between the 422 and 724 interchanges.
