Rep. Gerlach addresses VA issues during stop in Berks County

LOWER HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. - United States Representative Jim Gerlach discussed veterans health care during a stop at Phoebe Berks in Lower Heidelberg Township on Tuesday.

Gerlach said the VA's medical centers in our region didn't have the types of problems that were found at the center in Arizona.

"The overall process at the Lebanon VA has been found to be pretty good. The Coatesville VA in Chester County, a pretty good evaluation. Some problems with the Philadelphia VA relative to scheduling. That needs to be rectified," Gerlach said.

Congress has passed legislation that allows some veterans to get care from private doctors, Gerlach said. President Obama has signed that legislation.
