Residents react to body found in Lower Heidelberg

LOWER HEIDELBERG TWP., Pa. - The body of a woman was discovered around 4 p.m Sunday near Faust and Riegel roads in Lower Heidelberg Township, according to Berks County detectives and District Attorney John Adams.

Residents who live in the area reacted to the news.

"I am very confused, and I guess it's a little nerve-racking," said Betsy Graham, who recently moved to Lower Heidelberg Township from Kentucky. "We saw the police cars and we were like, 'What's going on?' We moved here in June. We have loved the neighborhood."

From a new resident to one who's lived there for decades, Roma Starosciak said she can't recall anything like this happening less than a mile from her home.

"I am shocked, because we never had anything like that before. No crime, no nothing," she said.

Neighbors also said the location is a popular place for nearby residents to walk.

"Reigel Road is so peaceful. We usually walk there," said Graham. "I don't know if we'll walk there anymore."
